City of Louisville EDI Strategic Priorities 2023-2025

In June of 2023, the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Manager shared with City Council a set of recommended strategic updates the 2021 Equity Blueprint.

The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan will operate to guide and improve the City of Louisville’s policies, decisions, and develop the conditions for long-term behavioral impact that extends to our departments and into our community.

Equity Blueprint

In 2021, the City developed an EDI Blueprint to guide our strategy. As a result of the Equity Assessment conducted by a third party, six commitments were created:

  1. Create a communication plan for inclusion
  2. Develop an EDI education strategy and implementation plan
  3. Apply an EDI lens to policies and procedures
  4. Incorporate the celebration of different cultures, races, ethnicities, and communities
  5. Develop a talent planning strategy
  6. Establish a process for continued dialogue on EDI through regular listening sessions, feedback and facilitated discussions.

In February of 2023, the City hired an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Manager to support the above efforts.

To hear more about the EDI work and our focus areas, please watch our City Spotlight-Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion video.
