Program Information

The City of Louisville owns an interest in 1,800 acres of Open Space with 1,120 acres jointly-owned and 680 acres owned and managed solely by the City, 163 acres of parkland, an 18-hole municipal golf course covering 160 acres, and over 32 miles of trails.  Limited budgets prohibit optimal landscaping and maintenance of public areas, however, increased usage and the need for maintenance continues to grow.  The City is committed to keeping public areas beautiful and well-maintained for all to enjoy. The Adopt an Open Space, Park, Golf and Trail Program provides enhanced maintenance of these public areas.  The Volunteer Adopt Program is open to individuals, businesses, organizations, clubs, churches, and schools to volunteer their time and talents in support of these public areas.  City staff makes every effort to place an adopting party with their requested open space property, park, area of the golf course or trail, however, this may not always be possible.  Staff will work to find a suitable alternative if your preferred choice is not available.
