The Planning Commission evaluates land use proposals and makes recommendations to the City Council. The Commission conducts public hearings to evaluate each proposal against municipal ordinances and the desires of the neighborhood. The Commission may choose to delay the decision, have another public hearing, or vote at the conclusion of the present meeting. After the public hearing, the Commission recommends, through a Resolution, that the City accept or reject the proposal.

The Commission consists of seven members who are appointed by the City Council and serve staggered terms (two 2-year, two 4-year, three 6-year terms).

Regular meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM in City Hall. Agendas for each meeting are posted in the foyer of City Hall, at the Library, at the Police Department/ Municipal Court Building, at the Recreation Center, and on this site prior to each meeting.

How do I contact the Planning Commission? If you’re interested in contacting the Commission to provide public comment regarding an issue, please send an email to planning@louisvilleco.gov.

All comments will be given to the Planning Commission and will be a part of the public record. To avoid conflicts with Colorado Open Meetings Laws and quasi-judicial ex parte rules, Planning Commission members do not respond to email.  Planning Commission will make reasonable efforts to read every email, but may not be able to read emails sent the the day of the hearing.  Any emails submitted after 4:30 pm the day of the hearing will not be provided to Planning Commission for that evening's hearing.

If you have a specific question and would like a response, please send an email or call 303.335.4592.

Please note that any information submitted to the Commission is available for public review under the Colorado Open Records Act. The following link is updated on Wednesday morning of each week and includes all Planning Commission emails and correspondence from the previous 30 days. If you have questions about these public records or wish to request correspondence older than 30 days, please contact the Planning Division.
