EDI Program Manager Monai Myles
The City of Louisville is proud to welcome Monai Myles (she/they) as our new EDI Program Manager.
For the last three years, Myles has worked in healthcare as a Senior Organizational Development Specialist, where they coached mid-level and senior leadership, provided customized services (trainings, mediation, strategic advising) based on departmental needs, and designed diversity, equity, and inclusion curriculum that focused on building awareness of structural racism, promoting safety and wellness for employees, and effectively implementing DEI policies to support the organization.
In 2020, they chose to partner with a community organizing group to publish The BIPOC Activist Workbook, an 8-week series of learnings, practices, and reflections designed to heal and empower communities of color within the U.S. and abroad. This work led to consulting with groups from various backgrounds including supporting Quakers to build inclusive and equitable meetings, working with first and second-year educators in the Teach for America Colorado program, consulting with higher education institutions in their strategic planning, and working with healthcare providers that provide gender-affirming care for trans and nonbinary patients.
Monai’s work philosophy is to always provide an authentic perspective, give space for innovative ways of thinking, and advance equity, inclusion, and justice. They hold a master’s degree in Spanish and Peninsular and Latin American Literature from Saint Louis University-Madrid and a BA in Spanish and International Affairs from Marquette University.
In their free time, Monai enjoys walking their Shih-tzu Zeppelin, learning chess, and dancing to afrobeats.
