The City of Louisville is excited to launch the new ‘Who We Are’, an equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) program series, which aims to explore questions regarding the past, present and future of Louisville and how community members engage with one another on identity, history, belonging and culture. We invite everyone to join in on the conversation and celebration.

We hope to build stronger connections between community members, learn and grow as a community, create a greater awareness of City history and understand who we are, where we come from and who we want to become.

Transgender Voices: Stories of Strength and Love

What's it like to be transgender? Join us for a story-telling and photo presentation

Award-winning photojournalist Sal Skog will share stories in words and pictures to celebrate the extraordinary lives of transgender people. Sal has interviewed and photographed more than 100 people who are trans, and their engaging and deeply moving personal stories illuminate not only what it means to be transgender, but what it means to be human. Sal will be joined by representatives from the trans community to help answer questions.

Sal has more than 30 years of experience as a professional photographer, with a degree in photojournalism from the University of Minnesota. Her work has appeared in magazines such as Mpls. St. Paul, Entrepreneur, Sports Illustrated, and others; as well as in newspapers in Minnesota, Washington, and Montana. Some of her corporate clients included The St. Paul Companies, Northwest Airlines, Medtronic, and Ecolab.

Doors will open at 6:00pm and presentation will begin at 6:30pm.

This is a free program, but registration is required. If you register, please attend. If you're unable to attend, please cancel your reservation so as many people as possible get to enjoy our free activities.
