Juneteenth is a symbolic date that commemorates the final announcement of the end of slavery on June 19, 1865. To recognize this day, the City of Louisville will have a free community streaming of Raoul Peck’s documentary, I Am Not Your Negro based on the last book that writer James Baldwin did not finish regarding his friends Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. This riveting film shares a message about collective responsibility and deepens understanding of the historical context and significance of the Black experience. Please join us for snacks and light refreshments and opening before the film. Afterwards, there will be a community discussion.
Please feel free to read more about the documentary here and note the movie is PG-13.
