Building for the Future - Energy Code Update, Community Meeting #2

The City of Louisville is looking for input as we consider and evaluate residential and commercial building codes.

  • Date: 07/28/2022 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Recently, the City of Louisville adopted the 2021 IECC with amendments, including vehicle charging infrastructure requirements, electric infrastructure for conversion from gas to electric systems, and the IECC Appendix RC Net Zero Residential Building Provisions.

The City is interested in exploring potential building codes that would further promote the City’s goals for energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction in new construction, including additional code amendments or a strategic roadmap for the adoption of all building electrification for residential and commercial construction and greenhouse gas reduction requirements for new commercial construction, which could include consideration of IECC Appendix CC Zero Energy Commercial Building Provisions or a similar code.

The City is looking for input from businesses, developers and residents and the City will be hosting an open house event on Thursday, July 29th from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Louisville Recreation and Senior Center. Attendees will have the chance to learn about the project, provide feedback, and ask questions about the proposed codes. Refreshments will be provided at this event.

Additionally, there will be a community survey and several other opportunities for engagement with this project. To stay up-to-date with the project, visit the Energy Code Update page of the Engage Louisville website.
