Older adults live through many transitions from childhood to death. The later transitions seem the most challenging. Older adults move from working to retirement, from a private home to an institution, from being generally well to coping with chronic illnesses. Coping with these requires resilience and persistence. Having a purpose for life that is bigger than one’s self helps.
