Painting with Credit Cards with Martin Lambuth

Presented by the Louisville Art Association

Learn more at https://www.flipcause.com/secure/event_step2/NzE5MDg=/63720

In Painting with Credit Cards, Martin Lambuth teaches you to explore a new method of painting primarily with plastic cards (credit cards, rooms keys, gift cards). This technique invites unique finishes and textures. He calls this style, “Random Acts of Paint”, as the exact result of a “brushstroke” is unknown. Martin's technique is a blend of concerted effort and happy accidents. It is similar to painting with a palette knife, but the end results more closely resemble brushwork. The paintings created with cards invoke a sense of realism when viewed at a distance, but up close the viewer can relish in the abstracted interplay of loose textures buried in layers of rich color. Elements of painting will be discussed throughout the workshop as well.

About Your Instructor:

My paintings are about nostalgia and Americana, with the objective to regulate the decay of time, capture a bit of history and delight in past glories before they are forever swept from the landscape. No brushes were harmed in the making of my paintings. I paint primarily with plastic cards (credit cards, gift cards, room keys). My style gives the impression of realism at a distance and elements of abstraction up close, within layers of loose textures buried in rich color.
