It is important that parents and child care staff are aware of early symptoms a child may have when not feeling well or coming down with something. Detection of these early symptoms can help decrease the spread of illness to others.
Some symptoms or behaviors to watch for:
Glassy or watery eyes
Decreased appetite
Lethargy or decreased activity
Sleeping more
Irritable or crying more than usual
Requiring more one-on-one care
State and local guidelines are used when establishing illness policies in addition to recommendations from the Colorado Office of Early Childhood. We follow How Sick is Too Sick set by CDPHE for when a child should stay home and when they can return.
