Due to the recent heavy snowfall causing extensive tree limb damage in and around the City, the City of Louisville is opening the Branch Recycle Site on Saturday, March 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The site is located just north of the Louisville Cemetery on Empire Road. Branch recycling is available to Louisville residents, and proof of residency is required at the gate. Please ensure you bring a valid form of identification, such as a driver's license or a water bill with your name and address.
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1484-2006, § 1, dated February 7, 2006, Sec. 8.12.060, property owners are reminded of their responsibility to manage downed trees and branches on their private property and within the adjacent public right-of-way. If necessary, property owners are encouraged to seek guidance from independent, licensed landscape contractors or arborists for the safe removal of trees or branches. It is imperative that branches are not relocated to parkways or other public areas.
Our dedicated City Forestry team is currently in the field, removing debris that poses immediate risk to public safety and transportation. Cleanup efforts on City property will be ongoing for the next several weeks.
Future dates for the Branch Recycle Site are being considered to continue addressing the aftermath of this weather event. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding additional dates.
