Silent Movies

"Up in Mabel's Room" and "What Price Goofy?"

Due to the immense popularity of previous silent films, online RSVPs are required for this event. Fire Code sets strict limits for capacity, and once the event shows as "sold" out," we cannot admit more guests.

Description from musician Rodney Sauer, who will accompany the movies on piano:

"As 'Up in Mabel’s Room' (1926) opens, Mabel (Marie Prevost) is on an ocean liner back from Paris, having quickly married, and then quickly divorced, Garry (Harrison Ford, but not THAT Harrison Ford). She has changed her mind about Garry, and sets her sights on recapturing him. But he is leery of “being divorced by the same woman twice,” and plans to safely escape by marrying Sylvia (Phyllis Haver). The sparks fly across New York’s jazz cabarets and a weekend retreat at a posh mansion, with mixups and misunderstandings, and attempts to steal, conceal, or reveal a compromising negligee.

We’ll extend the compromising negligee theme with a short comedy, 'What Price Goofy?' (1925). Charley Chase’s wife (Kathrine Grant) suspects that he’s stepping out with other women, and his attempts to regain her trust are not helped by a visiting woman professor, a burglar, and a dog trained to retrieve women’s underthings."

While tickets are free, RSVPs are required - this historic venue has limited seating. Use the code NoTalking to access tickets.
