Artist Brainstorming: Louisville Crosswalk Beautification

  • Date: 10/08/2020 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Over the last few months the City of Louisville has been improving the safety and accessibility of many of Louisville's intersections and crosswalks with the aim of encouraging more walking and cycling in Louisville. The most notable work has been the investment in Pine Street.

The community has expressed an interest in beautifying these intersections and the City of Louisville's Public Works Department and the Louisville Cultural Council are looking into the possibility of creating some public art at one of more of these intersections. This project is in its beginning stages and we invite artists to join a brainstorming session on the various possibilities available to the City for beautifying these intersections.

Discussion questions include:
• what materials are realistic?
• what skills do we need?
• what designs are realistic?
• what budget is realistic?

Please note that this is not a call for artists and all artist participation is voluntary. At this point the City of Louisville is open to ideas that would be created by artists, creative ways to beautify intersections that could be done by City contractors, or a mix of the two.
