The City of Louisville and the State of Colorado now allow adjustments to permit valuations if the actual cost of construction was greater than originally estimated with your building permit, which may result in a larger State Use Tax refund.  The valuation only includes the cost of the rebuild of your primary home. It does not include costs for appliances, fences, landscaping, decks, sheds, or accessory structures.

Additional City permit fees and City and County taxes may be due, however, the State Use Tax rebate could exceed the amount due.  You may contact the City at 303-335-4584 or stop by City Hall during business hours for help estimating the amount of additional City and County taxes and fees that would be due.   The potential State Use Tax refund is equal to 4% of the building materials cost (estimated at 50% of the total valuation).

If the valuation of your rebuild and construction materials are higher than the original amount estimate on your your permit and you wish to file for an adjustment, please follow the instructions provided.

  3. The City will contact you to collect additional City permit fees and City and County taxes that may be due.
    • Once homeowners have paid the fees due to the City, decreasing the valuation in the future will not be allowed.
  4. The City will then email you with the necessary paperwork and next step for submitting your adjustment request to the State.
