This handout estimates applicable fees and taxes for a home with a $700,000 valuation.  Please contact the Building Department with any questions.

  • Building Permit Fee: These fees are based on the valuation of the work and are intended to offset staff time to oversee the administration of the permit and inspection process while the home is under construction.  This handout includes the permit fee structure.
  • Plan Review Fee: 65% of Building Permit Fee. This is intended to off set the cost of the plan review.  The City has hired additional plan reviewers to ensure plans are prioritized and expedited.
  • Impact Fees:  Per the Louisville Municipal Code, impact fees only apply if your original home was less than 2,000 sf, and only then for the increase in square footage.  This handout demonstrates how to calculated impact fees.  Contact the Building Department with any questions on how to calculate your original square footage.
  • Tap Fees:  Sewer tap fees do not apply. Water tap fees will apply if you are increasing your fixture count above 30 units.  The Water Tap fee if the plans include more than 30 Fixture Count Units is $41,800.
  • Boulder County Use Tax: 1.185% of 50% of total valuation.  This tax is in place of sales tax for the purchase of materials to construct your home.
  • City of Louisville Use Tax: 3.65% of 50% of total valuation.  This tax is in place of sales tax for the purchase of materials to construct your home.
