Downtown Construction

Construction projects continue in the downtown area and DELO Development.  

This work is for the South Street Underpass, a new pedestrian connection between Old Town and East Louisville. The project includes wet utility work;  curb, gutter, and walk replacement; road reconstruction; the pedestrian underpass at the  BNSF tracks; BNSF right-of-way fencing; the new South Street Plaza; brick and colored concrete accents; street lighting; landscaping; a new 70 + space parking lot; and Miner’s Field parking area reconstruction.

Currently working at BNSF Pedestrian Underpass performing retaining wall construction.

This construction schedule is tentative and subject to change due to construction coordination, unknown site conditions, and weather.  The attached map indicates the improvement areas and tentative schedule.

Construction activities will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., typically Monday through Friday. Emergency access will be maintained through the construction area at all times. Public Works staff will make every effort to reduce the level of inconvenience during construction.

Sanitary sewer work, dry utility undergrounding, street lighting, landscaping and street reconstruction activities will include lane reductions and street closures/detours.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project

Project awarded to MWH Constructors. Plant improvements commenced in July 2015.  The plant upgrades will allow for the City to meet wastewater regulations for ammonia, nitrogen and phosphorus that will be effective in 2018.  The project includes the construction of a new headworks, aeration basins, pump station, secondary clarifiers, UV disinfection as well as several auxiliary support facilities and improvements.  Work is on schedule and is anticipated to be complete by summer 2017. 

2017 Concrete Replacement Project

City Council has approved the the 2017 Concrete Replacement project and awarded the contract to Noraa Concrete.  Work continues on Centennial Parkway, Grant Ave. and Dillon Road.  

2017 Hot Chip Seal Project

City Council has approved the the 2017 Hot Chip Seal project and awarded the contract to APC Construction Co. Work to continue on Nighthawk Cr.

2017 Street Reconstruction Project

 City Council has approved the the 2017 Street Reconstruction project and awarded the contract to Asphalt Specialties.  Work to begin this summer.

2017 Downtown Clay Paver Repair Project

Staff is soliciting quotes for the work.  Scope of work includes resetting existing and replacing damaged clay pavers at back of curb.  Construction limits on Main Street between South St. and Pine St.

2017 Water Main Replacement Project

City Council Awarded the contract to Colorado Civil Infrastructure, Inc. on  April 18, 2017.  Construction is continuing on Caledonia Street from Jefferson Ave. to Front Street.  See construction project map (above) for locations.

2017 Sanitary Sewer Main Replacement Project

City Council Awarded the Contract to Brannan Construction Company on May 2, 2017.   Construction will begin May 22nd on the alley west of Main Street. See construction project map (above) for locations.
